What It Is
RightNow Media is a resourceful website that is full of teachings and entertainment on biblical subjects. It features a full page that is fully devoted to college students and young adults. The page features materials on a variety of different things. RightNow Media provides a large amount of curriculum that include bible studies, testimonies, bible stories, conference sessions and more.
How We Used It
We use RightNow media in our Young Adult Sunday School classes for Bible study and education on how to navigate life situations as a Christ follower with its wide variation of materials for all age groups. Many times leaders did not show the videos, but used the for teaching preparation in advance. The videos teachings were for the leader who then adapted to the teaching moment.
What We Like
RightNow Media provides resources on a multitude of subjects. Their curriculum ranges from the Francis Chan’s Bible study on the Book of James to Passion Conference sessions to a 4-part series on being satisfied with singleness. The wide variety of materials and massive video library available at RightNow Media is almost all unique to RightNow Media as well. This resource has the capability to help many young adults who want to grow in their leadership and their spiritual life.
This “Netflix” of bible study had just about everything on it. It is an A-Z on biblical study topics.
What Could Be Better
With the wide amount of material not all the content is on the same level of quality. Some of the videos are very good and some of the videos I do not agree with. The series can be hit or miss depending on the video.
Just like Netflix, when you have a bunch, you have some that are not great. We found over time, young adults struggled with much of the teaching. Video teaching has to be 10 minutes or less or it must be outstanding for this YouTube culture. Dynamic teaching captivates. Average teaching in amazing setting (the tendency of the videos) does not. It is still average. In survey’s of young adults, they repeatedly say they only like 2-3 videos in series. We now use these sparingly are only for leader preparation.
