What it is

RightNow Media and Francis Chan partnered together to provide a video series on the book of James. The video series consists of 12 videos on the 5 chapters in the book of James. Along with the videos, RightNow Media also provides a leader’s guide and participant handouts that can help a leader develop an impactful lesson. This 12-week bible study focuses on the lessons that can be learned in the book of James; trials, desire, conflict, action, prayer, and wisdom. Francis Chan goes in depth into the study of James, by unpacking it verse by verse in each video. The bible study focuses on guiding young adults to be better followers of Jesus Christ. It challenges them to go deeper in their faith and helps them learn how to better resist temptation. This is what James focused on in his ministry. He was writing to believers he knew were suffering, but still wanted a deeper relationship with the Lord.

How we used it

We used this Bible study in class for Bible study as well as the handouts to learn more about the lessons we can learn in James. This series is a favorite our young adults. It has been well received in multiple settings, small groups and classroom settings. 

What we like

It was all inclusive. It has handouts, videos, and a teacher’s guide. It made studying the Bible easy and understandable. I liked how he went verse by verse to really get into depth on the mindset of James. They were powerful lessons.

Chan is an outstanding teacher. This is right now media at its best. A dynamic teacher with dynamic content and well shot material. This is what Right Now Media was made for. The Book of James speaks to injustice and prejudice today. It is great work.

What could be better

The videos are well done, but at times the settings are distracting. The teaching curriculum could use a little more beefing up for the group that needs more teaching, but overall there is not much to improve on!
